From the latest book by Guy Kawasaki
Have you ever had one of those days in which the team is not coming together? In a quick break, I check my reads for the day and today brings another gem from Guy Kawasaki, Chief Evangelist at Canva.
He references Steve Jobs...
Guy Kawasaki: At Apple, Steve Jobs divided people into 2 groups—‘insanely great’ and ‘crappy’
Guy Kawasaki spent 2 terms at Apple and shares so much from those days.
Today's Lesson
The best use of your attention and energy and hopes is to invest in someone who is Intrinsically Great.
If someone is Intrinsically Great but is in temporary trouble, being of assistance is a good investment of your attention and energy and hopes.
On the other hand, with people believe they are Crappy, anything you do is futile. As Garth and Wayne of Wayne's World paraphrase, their motto is "We're not worthy!" Which means they will sabotage whatever you do to be of assistance. And worse, they will drag you down to their level for being foolish enough to reach down with a helping hand.
Looking ahead
Once you see who you are dealing with, react appropriately. Invest in Intrinsically Great and Stay out of the black hole of crap.
Back to writing my book, Not Invited to the Wedding....
